Prevalencia de la estomatitis subprótesis / Prevalence of subprosthesis stomatitis

RESUMEN

Fundamentación La estomatitis subprótesis se caracteriza por una lesión eritematosa donde siempre está presente la inflamación. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de la estomatitis subprótesis en la cínica Las Margaritas. Método: Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo, longitudinal y prospectivo en el sector No2 perteneciente a la clínica Las Margaritas, del municipio Carirubana, estado Falcón, Venezuela, desde enero de 2006 a agosto de 2007. El universo del estudio estuvo constituido por 340 pacientes portadores de prótesis y la muestra por 112 individuos que se le diagnosticó la afección. Resultados: El sexo más afectado fue el femenino y se presentó más en el grupo de edades de 45 a 54 años, seguida del de 35 a 44 años. Se encontró que el grado de la lesión que predominó fue el grado II, principalmente en los pacientes con un período de uso de la prótesis de seis a diez años, seguido de 20 enfermos que llevaban de uno a cinco años. Conclusiones: De los afectados 91 de ellos dormían con la prótesis y el grado que predominó en ellos fue el grado II(AU)

ABSTRACT

Background: The subprosthesis stomatitis is characterized by an erythematous lesion where it is always present inflammation. Objective: To determine the prevalence of subprosthesis stomatitis in Las Margaritas clinic. Method: An observational, descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study in the sector No.2 belonging to Las Margaritas clinic of Carirubana municipality, Falcon state, Venezuela, was carried out from January 2006 to August 2007. The universe of the study was constituted by 340 patients wearing prosthesis and the sample by 112 individuals who were diagnosed the affection. Results: The female sex was the most affected and it was more showed up in the age group from 45 to 54 years, followed by the one from 35 to 44 years. It was found that the lesion degree that prevailed was the grade II, mainly in the patients with a prosthesis period of use from six to ten years, followed by 20 sick persons that took from one to five years. Conclusions: Of those affected 91 of them slept with the prosthesis and the grade II prevailed(AU)
