En busca del cemento adhesivo ideal: los ionómeros de vidrio / In search of the ideal adhesive cement: the glass ionomers

RESUMEN

Cualquier tratamiento protésico parcial fijo definitivo, necesita de una técnica y material adecuado para lograr un acercamiento íntimo entre la estructura dentaria y la restauración. Esto ha dado lugar a búsquedas del cemento ideal, pues el 50 por ciento del éxito en la longevidad de las restauraciones estéticas definitivas se le atribuye a la cementación. En estos últimos años, los ionómeros de vidrio constituyen los materiales que más han experimentado cambios para mejorar sus propiedades. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica acerca del origen, clasificación, formas de presentación, composición, reacción de fraguado, propiedades, indicaciones y técnica de cementado. Esto constituirá una guía para el protesista, pues este material de excelentes cualidades es poco conocido en clínica dental (AU)

ABSTRACT

Any definitive fixed partial prosthetic treatment, needs of a technique and appropriate material to achieve an intimate approach among the dental structure and the restoration. This has given raise to searches of the ideal cement, because the 50 percent of the success in the longevity of the definitive aesthetic restorations is attributed to the cementation. In these last years, the glass ionomers constitute materials that more have experienced changes to improve their properties. A bibliographical review about the origin, classification, presentation forms, and composition, setting reaction, properties, indications and cementation technique was carried out. This will constitute a guide for the prosthesist, because this material of excellent qualities is not very well-known in clinic (AU)
