RESUMEN
Un gran reto para la ciencia ha sido siempre el envejecimiento, proceso caracterizado por expresar externamente una secuencia de cambios y transformaciones internas como resultado de la interrelación entre factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos. Es una necesidad la formación del médico de la atención primaria de salud para atender al adulto mayor. El objetivo del trabajo es caracterizar los contenidos curriculares para la preparación del médico y especialista en Medicina General Integral en la atención al adulto mayor. Se procedió al análisis de un conjunto de documentos responsables de esta preparación, se encontró que los contenidos del Plan de Formación en la carrera de medicina se hallan inmersos en el módulo de la disciplina Medicina Interna. En el programa de la especialidad están bien distribuidos, pero no se encuentran integrados a las orientaciones de la carpeta metodológica y el programa de atención al adulto mayor, por lo que podemos concluir que los planes de formación del personal médico en el área de atención al adulto mayor son adecuados en cuanto a sus contenidos pero en su ejecución se presentan dificultades que impiden una adecuada preparación integral del profesional(AU)
ABSTRACT
To science, the aging has always been a challenge as a process characterized by to express externally a sequence of changes and internal transformations as result of interrelation among intrinsic and extrinsic factors. It is necessary the training of the primary health care physician to serve the elderly. The aim of present paper is to characterize the curricular contents to physician's and specialist train in integral general medicine in elderly care. We made an analysis of a set of documents accounted for this training, founding the contents of Training Plan in Medicine career are included in the module of Internal Medicine discipline. In the specialty program they are well distributed but are not integrated to guiding of the methodological folder and to the elderly care program, thus concluding that training plans of medical staff in the elderly care area are appropriate as regards its contents but in its execution are difficulties preventing a suitable integral training of the professional(AU)
