Fisura palatina completa: reporte de un caso / Complete cleft palate: a case report

RESUMEN

Introducción: El paladar fisurado o fisura palatina es una malformación congénita que afecta el macizo craneofacial, alterando funciones tan vitales como la masticación, fonación y deglución. Se presenta en un 25 porciento de forma individual y en un 50 porciento cuando se asocia al labio leporino. Presentación de caso Por lo poco común que resulta se presenta un caso de una paciente con una fisura palatina completa o de gran extensión que comunica de forma total la cavidad bucal con la nasal. Se confeccionó una prótesis parcial superior acrílica con obturador palatino sin antecedentes de reporte en el área de salud rural correspondiente al Policlínico Faustino Pérez Hernández del municipio de Taguasco. Conclusiones: La paciente fue rehabilitada mediante una prótesis parcial superior acrílica con un obturador palatino, recuperando la estética afectada, mejorando el lenguaje, la masticación y la deglución(AU)

ABSTRACT

Background: Cleft palate or palate fissure is a congenital malformation that affects the craniofacial skull, disrupting vital functions such as chewing, speech and swallowing. It appears in a 25percent cases individually and in 50percent cases when associated with cleft lip. Case presentation Due to its rare occurrence, a case is presented of a patient with a complete or major extension cleft palate that totally communicates the oral cavity with the nasal one. A partial acrylic upper denture with palatal obturator was made. This device hasnt been reported before in the rural health area of the Faustino Pérez Hernández Polyclinic of Taguasco municipality. Conclusions: The patient was rehabilitated through a partial acrylic upper denture with a palatal obturator. In this way, she recovered her aesthetics, and improved her speech, chewing and swallowing functions(AU)
