Comportamiento de la otitis media en el recién nacido en el servicio abierto de Neonatología en el año 2010 / Behaviour of otitis media in new born in the opened service of Neonatology in 2010

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo con la finalidad de conocer el comportamiento de la otitis media aguda (OMA) en el servicio abierto de neonatología durante el año 2010 teniendo en cuenta diversos elementos como factores de riesgo, el uso de la otoscopia como medio diagnóstico de certeza así como la toma de cultivo del conducto auditivo en los casos en que fue posible. El universo estuvo constituido por todos los recién nacidos que ingresaron en el servicio abierto de neonatología y se incluyeron en el estudio a todos aquellos casos que ingresaron al mismo con los siguientes síntomas fiebre, irritabilidad, rechazo al alimento y secreción u obstrucción nasal. El 54 por ciento de los pacientes que ingresaron en el servicio abierto de Neonatología presentaban un cuadro probable de OMA, el factor de riesgo que se encontró con una mayor frecuencia fue la presencia de síntomas respiratorios previos seguido de la lactancia artificial y el uso del biberón, la otoscopia se le realizó al 20 por ciento de los pacientes con una positividad del 76 por ciento y solo se le realizó cultivo de la secreción del conducto auditivo al 10 por ciento de los niños con una positividad del 50 por ciento(AU)

ABSTRACT

A descriptive observacional study was carried out with the purpose of knowing the the acute otitis media in the opened service of neonatology during 2010 having in mind some elements like risk factors, the use of otoscopy as certainty diagnosis as well as the culture taking of the auditory canal in the possible cases. The universe was constituted by all new born that entered in the opened service of neonatology and it was included in the study all those cases that entered with the following symptoms fever, irritability, food rejection and secretion or nasal obstruction. 54 percent of patients who entered in the opened service of Neonatology presented a probable picture of OMA, the risk factor that was found with a greater frequency was the presence of previous respiratory symptoms followed by artificial feeding and the use of nursing bottle, the otoscopy was carried out to 20 percent of patients with a positivity of 76 percent and the secretion culture of the auditory canal was carried out to 10 percent of children with with 50 percent of positivity(AU)
