ABSTRACT
The infections are still a scourge for children, which is evidenced in the second basic cause of infantile mortality in Cuba. It was performed an analytic research of cases an controls with the objective to identify the influence of risk factors in preterm newborns with precocious newborn infection, hospitalized in the Neonatology Closed Service at Carlos Manuel Cespedes Hospital in Bayamo, Granma, since January 1rst to December 31, 2010. It was performed a univaried analysis, the presence of vaginal (OR 3.07, p=0.001) and urinary sepsis (OR 10.54, p=0.000), the breaking of membranes with more than 18 hours (OR 10.54, p=0.000), the clinic corioamnyonitis was the risk factor because its value was OR 9.70, p=0.000). Concluding, all researched factors influenced in the presence of the precocious neonatal infection.(EU)
