Significado del nacimiento de un hijo(a) con Síndrome Down en un grupo de familias de Bayamo / Significance of the birth of a child with Down syndrome for a group of families of Bayamo city

RESUMEN

La investigación realizada, con un enfoque metodológico cualitativo interpretativo y elementos de investigación acción, recoge los resultados del estudio realizado en un grupo de familias bayamesas que tienen un hijo con Síndrome Down (SD) menor de 5 años, con el objetivo de caracterizar el significado de su nacimiento. El muestreo fue intencional e intensivo, de caso típico; se entrevistaron 14 padres y madres, de ellos, participaron 10 en las sesiones del Grupo Formativo, conducido por una coordinadora y dos observadoras, supervisadas por una especialista en la planificación, implementación y análisis de la intervención. Los emergentes detectados apuntan al significado que para la familia tiene el nacimiento de un hijo(a) con SD; en el Grupo Formativo se trabajaron algunos de estos aspectos y las dificultades en el funcionamiento familiar; la reflexión grupal, facilitó la incorporación de nuevos elementos de análisis, cognitivos y afectivos para el inicio de procesos de cambio al interno de estas familias. Se identificaron, Indicadores Diagnósticos de Población que por su valor diagnóstico y predictivo pueden ser utilizados en el diseño de otros programas de intervención comunitaria vinculados a la Atención Primaria de Salud, la Educación, la Extensión Comunitaria entre otros, lo que constituye uno de los valores de la investigación(AU)

ABSTRACT

An interpretive methodological approach and elements of the research-action method were used in this research that shows the results of a study made with a group of families from Bayamo city which have a five years old or younger child with Down Syndrome (DS), with the objective of characterizing the significance of their birth. A purposeful and intensive, typical case sampling was chosen; 14 fathers and mothers were interviewed, 10 of them participated in the sessions of a Formative Group, guided by one coordinator and two observers, supervised by an expert in the planning, implementation and analysis of the intervention.The emergent topics detected aimed to the significance that has in the family the birth of a Down syndrome child; in the Formative Group some of these aspects and the difficulties in the functioning of the family were approached; the group reflection facilitated the incorporation of new analysis, cognitive and affective elements for the initiation of change processes in these families.Diagnostic Indicators of population, which according to their diagnostic and predictive importance, can be used in the design of other similar programs for community intervention linked to the Primary Health Care, Education, Community Extension among other, were identified, which is one of the most important value of this research(AU)
