RESUMEN

Introducción:

el pie diabético es considerado un problema de salud a escala mundial debido a que ocasiona un alto número de amputaciones e ingresos en los servicios hospitalarios.

Objetivo:

caracterizar a los pacientes con esta enfermedad tratados con Heberprot-P® (factor de crecimiento epidérmico).

Métodos:

se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, de serie de casos de los pacientes tratados con este medicamento durante un período de cinco meses en el Servicio de Angiología y Cirugía Vascular del Hospital Militar Fermín Valdez Domínguez en la provincia Holguín.

Resultados:

se observó un predominio de los pacientes geriátricos del sexo masculino, con presencia de factores de riesgo modificables, con patrón oclusivo distal. Se percibió correspondencia entre la gravedad de la lesión y la cantidad de dosis utilizadas de Heberprot-P®, existió un predominio de las reacciones adversas leves, sin peligro para la vida del paciente y tendencia a la realización de operaciones conservadoras como las necrectomías.

Conclusiones:

los pacientes afectados de pie diabético tratados con este medicamento se caracterizaron por presentar una evolución satisfactoria. El Heberprot-P® demostró ser seguro y efectivo; su uso se favorece mediante la implementación de estrategias de prevención(AU)
ABSTRACT

Introduction:

the diabetic foot is considered a global health problem, since it causes a high number of amputations and admissions to hospitals.

Objective:

to characterize the patients with this disease treated with Heberprot-P®.

Methods:

adescriptive, retrospective, case series study of patients treated with this drug for five months in the angiology and vascular surgery service of the Fermín Valdez Domínguez military Hospital in Holguín province.

Results:

predominance of male geriatric patients with modifiable risk factors and distal occlusive pattern was observed. There was correspondence between the severity of the injury and the number of Heberprot-P® doses used. Minor non-life-threatening adverse reactions predominated and there was a tendency to perform conservative operations as necrectomies.

Conclusions:

the patients with diabetic foot treated with Heberprot-P® had satisfactory progression. This drug proved to be safe and effective and its use is encouraged through the implementation of preventive strategies(AU)
