ABSTRACT
The interpretation of the diverse historical sources by historians, from the historical materialism, permits to study the diverse phenomena of the society in connection and interdependence. All knowledge is an act of reflection. In such sense the historical sources constitute a means of the reality knowledge, and constitute a reflection of the event, what allows to the historian to remake and rebuild the fact, like historical knowledge, what explains the mediator character of the historical sources between the historian and the historical fact. In such sense the task of historians is to locate the source to be able to explain and interpret the past. In the investigation performed it is evidenced that the sources of the historical knowledge contextualized in the teaching learning process (TLA) work like didactic mediators; independently of the subjectivity that is inherent to this type of mediator and of the classist affiliation of the historian and his interests. It was concluded that the historical sources that represent a source of knowledge for historians, for the teacher constitute a means of education and for the students it is a learning tool. The purpose of this article is to support, from the materialist understanding of the history, the use of the historical sources like didactic mediators in the teaching learning process(EU)
