ABSTRACT
It was performed a prospective and descriptive study of patients with acute myocardial infraction regarding the use of Peel's index prognosis. 70 in patients with diagnosis were selected in the Intensive Care Unit at Carlos M. de Céspedes Hospital in Bayamo since october 1st 1998 to june 30th 1999. It was proved that 57,1 percent of the patients were between 1-8 points of index. The great survival (67,29 percent) was associated to the lower punctuation contrary to the death group (58,3 percent) that increased as the punctuation was higher. The most probable average value for the habitants of patients alive with heart disease was (6.02=1.11) corresponding to the deceased ones, the (18.08=4.09) The usefulness of Peel's index was verifyed.to establish the prognosis in the infarction, for this reason it is recommended its generalization in or out of the Intensive Care Unit(EU)
