Salud bucal en la población geriátrica perteneciente al consejopopular aeropuerto viejo, año 2001 / Bucal health in the geriatric population from the Old Airport Popular Council, 2001

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo en pacientes geriátrico pertenecientes al Consejo Popular Aeropuerto Viejo en el año 2001 con el objetivo de determinar el estado de salud bucal de esta población, el universo estuvo constituido por 357 pacientes y la muestra formada por 214 geriátricos que representaron 60 por ciento. La información se obtuvo por medio del interrogatorio y examen físico a la luz natural en el área de salud aplicándose una encuesta, para la obtención de los resultados se usó como medidas de resumen índices, promedios y porcentajes. La información se presentó en tablas y gráficos para su análisis y discusión. Los resultados mostraron que el mayor número de pacientes examinados fueron enfermos con secuelas (66,3 por ciento); los factores de riesgo que más incidieron en esta población fueron la prótesis mal ajustada (83,1 por ciento) y antecedentes de caries dental (82,7 por ciento); en la edad de 65-69 años encontramos el mejor promedio de dientes perdidos (13,7 por ciento) en comparación con las metas de salud bucal. La prótesis más necesitada fue la total superior (44,3 por ciento) y el sexo más afectado fue el femenino (23,8 por ciento), los que presentaron además el mayor número de lesiones premalignas (46,6 por ciento)(AU)

ABSTRACT

A descriptive, retrospective study was conducted in geriatric patients belonging to the popular old airport Council in the year 2001 with the aim of determining the state of buccal health of this population, the universe was made by 357 patients and the sample consisted on 214 geriatric patients for a 60 percent. The information was obtained through the interrogation and physical examination in the health area through the application of a survey. To obtain the results there were used as measures of summary indices, averages and percentages. The information was presented in tables and graphics for the analysis and discussion. The results showed that the greatest number of the examined patients were sick with sequels (66.3 percent); the most frequent risk factors were the poorly adjusted prosthesis (83.1 percent) and the antecedents of dental caries (82.7 percent); in the ages between 65-69 we found the best average of missing teeth (13.7) in comparison with oral health goals. The most required prosthesis was the total superior (44.3 percent) and the most affected sex was female (23.8 percent), presenting the greatest number of premalignant lesions (46.6 percent)(EU)
