RESUMEN
En este artículo se expone brevemente la historia altruista de un grupo de jóvenes, que al terminar sus estudios de medicina, en 1960, escogieron para su graduación el nombre de Las Ardillas. De unos 200 integrantes de ese curso, egresados de la Universidad de La Habana, 25 vinieron para Santiago de Cuba, y de ellos, 8 se quedaron en esta ciudad donde han dedicado su vida a la más humana de las tareas. Con motivo de las festividades por el aniversario 495 de la fundación de Santiago de Cuba, la Asamblea Municipal del Poder Popular entregó, en sesión solemne, la distinción de Hijo Ilustre de la Ciudad, a estos prestigiosos profesionales. A Las Ardillas corresponde la primicia de haber jurado, firmado y entregado al Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, su compromiso de servir a los más desposeídos en cualquier lugar de la isla de Cuba(AU)
ABSTRACT
The altruistic story of a group of young people that by the time they finished their medicine studies, in 1960, chose for their graduation the name Las Ardillas is briefly exposed in this work. From 200 members of that course, graduated in Havana University, 25 came to Santiago de Cuba, and of them, 8 stayed in this city where they have dedicated their life to the most human of all the tasks. Due to the festivities for the 495 anniversary of Santiago de Cuba foundation, the Municipal Assembly of the People´s Power awarded, in solemn session, the distinction of City Illustrious Sons, to these prestigious professionals. Las Ardillas were the first to swear, sign and give to the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, their commitment of serving to those most destitute in any place of the Cuban island(AU)
