RESUMEN
Desde la introducción en los años 60 de las tabletas anticonceptivas, se han ido produciendo modificaciones en sus componentes, con el objetivo de mejorar su seguridad y tolerancia sin perder su eficacia. Las principales novedades están relacionadas con la introducción de nuevos progestágenos con menores efectos secundarios y mayores beneficios adicionales, así como también con la aparición de un preparado con estrógeno natural y la utilización de nuevas pautas de inicio y de régimen de intervalo libre de hormona. Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior se realizó una actualización sobre el riesgo de tromboembolismo venoso en quienes lo consumen estos medicamentos(AU)
ABSTRACT
Since the introduction in the 60s of the birth-control pills, their components have been modified, with the purpose of improving their security and tolerance without losing their effectiveness. The main innovations are related to the introduction of new progestogens with less adverse effects and more additional benefits, as well as with the emergence of a preparation with natural estrogen and the use of new beginning rules and hormone free interval regimen.
