Conocimientos de un grupo de madres sobre prevención de accidentes en el hogar / Knowledge of a group of mothers about prevention of accidents at home

RESUMEN

Introducción: los accidentes o lesiones no intencionales representan hoy día uno de los principales problemas en Salud Publica.Objetivo: identificar el nivel de conocimientos que poseen las madres de niños menores de cinco años sobre la prevención de accidentes en el hogar.Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal en un grupo de madres de niños menores de cinco años pertenecientes a tres consultorios del médico de familia del grupo básico de trabajo No.1 del Policlínico Universitario Luis Li Trigent del municipio Güines, provincia Mayabeque desde el 1ro de julio hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2013. El universo estuvo constituido por el total de madres con hijos menores de cinco años 136, Se estudiaron los conocimientos sobre la prevención de accidentes y se relacionaron con la edad, escolaridad ocupación y estado civil de las madres. Resultados: el 90 por ciento del total de madres, así como el 50 por ciento entre 20 y 30 años, tenían conocimientos insuficientes sobre la prevención de accidentes en el hogar. El mayor número de madres tenían preuniversitario y universitario terminado y de ellas el 30 por ciento, y el 35 por ciento respectivamente poseían conocimientos insuficientes. El 55 por ciento de las madres trabajadoras así como el 35 por ciento de las madres casadas y acompañadas poseían conocimientos insuficientes sobre prevención de accidentes. Conclusiones: se concluye que las madres de niños menores de cinco años no poseen conocimientos suficientes sobre la prevención de accidentes en el hogar. ABSTRACT

Introduction: accidents or no intentional lesions represent nowadays one of the main public health problems.Objective: To identify the level of knowledge that mothers of children younger than 5 years old have about prevention of accidents at home. Methods: a descriptive transversal study was performed in a group of mothers of children younger than five years old from three doctors offices of Basic Working Team No.1 at Luis Li Trigent University Policlinic in Güines, Mayabeque province from July 1st to December 31st 2013. The universe was constituted by the total of mothers with children younger than five years old 136. Knowledge about prevention of accidents and its relation with age, school level, occupation and marital status of the mothers were studied. Results: 90 percent of the total of mothers as well as the 50 percent between 20 and 30 years old had insufficient knowledge about prevention of accidents at home. The highest number of mothers had pre university and university level and the 30 per cent y el 35 percent of them had insufficient knowledge respectively 55 percent of mothers who are workers as well as the 35 percent of married mothers had insufficient knowledge about prevention of accidents at home too. Conclusions: as a conclusion it can be stated that mothers with children younger than five years old did not have adequate knowledge about prevention of accidents at home.
