Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis: una década en la formación de recursos humanos / The accredited degree course in atherosclerosis research: a decade of work in the formation of human resources

RESUMEN

Introducción: la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, surge con el fin de contribuir a la formación de un profesional con mayor perfeccionamiento profesional e investigativo, capaz de brindar una mejor atención a la población, en un problema de salud de gran importancia la aterosclerosis. Objetivo: exponer los principales resultados en la formación de recursos humanos, de la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, durante 10 años de trabajo. Material y Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de tipo transversal. Los datos se obtuvieron de la base de datos de la secretaría docente del Centro de Investigación y Referencia de Aterosclerosis de La Habana, en el período comprendido entre enero del 2003 y enero del 2013. Las variables estudiadas fueron las especialidades y niveles de atención, en los que laboran los integrantes de la carrera certificativa, tesis de maestría defendidas y desempeño profesional e investigativo. Resultados: en el período estudiado se graduaron 430 alumnos en el diplomado y 170 en la maestría. Predominaron los alumnos que laboraban en el nivel de atención secundaria. Al finalizar, en la maestría se produjo un aumento en la obtención y promoción de categorías docentes investigativas y grados científicos. Conclusiones: los resultadosde una década de trabajo de la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, constituyen un aporte positivo en la formación de recursos humanos en salud, con una elevada preparación docente e investigativa(AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Research comes up with the aim of contributing to the formation of a professional with a higher professional and investigative improvement, able to give a better attention to the population with regards to a health problem of great importance atherosclerosis. Objective: to show the main results in the formation of human resources in the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Research, during a 10-year work period. Material and Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. The data were obtained from the database of the teaching secretariat of the Center of Investigations and References of Atherosclerosis of Havana (CIRAH), from January 2003 to January 2013. The variables studied were the specialties and the attention levels where the members of the certifying degree course work, the defended dissertations for Master´s Degrees, and the professional and investigative performances. Results: during the period under study, 430 students graduated from the Diploma Course and 170 ones graduated from the Master's Degree. The students that predominated were the ones who worked in the secondary attention level. Finally, there was an increase in the acquisition and promotion of teaching investigative degrees and scientific degrees in the Master´s Degree Course. Conclusions: the results of a decade of work of the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Researchconstitute a positive contribution to the formation of human resources for health, with a high teaching and investigative preparation(AU)
