RESUMEN
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, longitudinal y retrospectivo, con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento del paludismo en 12 626 pacientes atendidos en el Banco de Urgencias del Hospital Municipal de Libolo, en Kwansa Sul, República de Angola, desde mayo de 2014 hasta junio de 2017. Las variables investigadas fueron edad, sexo, tipo de Plasmodium, formas de presentación de la enfermedad, y complicaciones según tipo de Plasmodium. El dato primario se obtuvo de los procesos de observación e internamiento, exámenes complementarios y hojas de cargo. Predominó el sexo masculino, el grupo de 0 a 4 años de edad y el Plasmodiumfalciparum. Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron la anemia grave y el paludismo cerebral. Se concluyó que el paludismo es un importante problema de salud y su comportamiento refleja existencia de desigualdades de salud, así como la necesidad de emprender intervenciones sanitarias(AU)
ABSTRACT
A descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was carried out to characterize the behavior of malaria in 12,616 patients seen at the Emergency Bank of Libolo Municipal Hospital in KwansaSul, Republic of Angola, from May 2014 to June 2017. The variables investigated were age, sex, type of plasmodium, forms of presentation of the disease and complications according to type of plasmodium. The primary data was obtained from the processes of observation and internment, complementary examinations and worksheets. Prevalence of the male sex, the group of 0 to 4 years of age and Plasmodium falciparum. The most frequent complications were severe anemia and cerebral malaria. It was concluded that malaria is an important health problem and its behavior reflects the existence of health inequalities, as well as the need to undertake health
