RESUMEN

Introducción:

los pacientes que presentan respiración bucal adquieren una postura adaptativa de las estructuras de la cabeza y la región del cuello, que afectan la relación de losmaxilares y el desarrollo normal del mismo, trayendo manifestaciones clínicas bucales, faciales y esqueletales.

Objetivo:

determinar el nivel de conocimiento de padres o tutores de los pacientes sobre respiración bucal, así como de las manifestaciones clínicas que ocasiona.

Método:

se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y correlacionar en 120 padres depacientes entre 7 a 19 años de edad que se inscribieron en el departamento de Ortodoncia del Policlínico Luís Galván Soca del municipio Centro Habana entre julio del 2017 y agosto del 2018 y respiraban por la boca.

Resultados:

los resultados evidenciaron bajo conocimiento de pacientes y padres o tutores sobre respiración bucal, así como de las manifestaciones clínicas que ocasiona alta relación de pies planos y cifosis encontradas(AU)
ABSTRACT

Introduction:

patients with mouth breathing acquire an adaptive posture of the structures of the head and the neck region, which affect the relationship of the jaws and the normal development of the same, bringing oral, facial and skeletal clinical manifestations.

Objective:

to determine the level of knowledge of parents or guardians of patients about mouth breathing, as well as the clinical manifestations that it causes.

Method:

an observational, descriptive and correlation study was conducted in 120 parents of patients between 7 to 19 years of age who enrolled in the orthodontics department of the Luis Galván Soca Polyclinic in the Centro Habana municipality between July 2017 and August 2018 and were breathing by the mouth.

Results:

the results showed low knowledge of patients and parents or guardians about mouth breathing, as well as the clinical manifestations that it causes. High ratio of flat feet and kyphosis found(EU)
