RESUMEN

Introducción: el paciente crítico necesita en su tratamiento y seguimiento una vigilancia estricta que asegure el conocimiento de la más mínima variación de su enfermedad. Objetivo: caracterizar el comportamiento de los niños críticos que ingresaron en el servicio de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica del Hospital Infantil General Luis Ángel Milanés Tamayo en el año 2019. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo transversal en la UCIP Bayamo, de los pacientes críticos en el año 2019, para estudiar el comportamiento de estos. Resultados: de los ingresos el 74 por ciento fueron menores de 1 año, el 68 por ciento del sexo masculino, el 38 por ciento procedente del cuerpo de guardia, el 27 por ciento fueron del área de salud del Policlínico René Vallejo, el 14 por ciento como diagnóstico al ingreso la sepsis grave, el 57 por ciento fueron fallecidos menores de 1 año y el 66 por ciento estuvieron ventilados. Conclusiones: los menores de 1 año, del sexo masculino, procedentes del cuerpo de guardia, del Policlínico René Vallejo, con diagnóstico de sepsis grave fueron los niños críticos ingresados en nuestro servicio en el período estudiado(AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: critically ill patients need strict surveillance in their treatment and follow-up to ensure knowledge of the slightest variation in their disease. Objective: to characterize the behavior of critically ill children who were admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care service of the General Luis Ángel Milanés Tamayo Childrens Hospital in 2019. Methods: a cross-sectional retrospective descriptive study was carried out in the Bayamo PICU of critically ill patients in 2019, to study their behavior. Results: 74 percent of the admissions were under 1 year of age, 68 percent were male, 38 percent came from the body of guard, 27 percent were from the health area of the René Vallejo Polyclinic, 14 percent as a diagnosis on admission in severe sepsis, 57 percent were deceased under 1 year and 66 percent were ventilated.
