RESUMO
O propósito do artigo é abordar a questão da saúde no Vale do Rio Doce em relação ao panorama sanitário de Minas Gerais entre as décadas de 1910 e 1950. Após a análise dos aspectos que marcaram a atuação do Estado no âmbito da saúde pública, pretendemos situar como a região do Rio Doce se inseriu tardiamente no projeto do saneamento do Estado (AU).
