ABSTRACT
Observa e analisa historicamente o processo de construção de estratégias de saúde, pela população cabocla que habita o Médio Rio Negro (na Amazônia brasileira), ao longo do século XX. O conceito de saúde aqui proposto privilegia as relações entre as atividades humanas e o ambiente, compreendendo tanto o uso dos recursos da floresta e as práticas que lhes são articuladas, quando o impacto do modo de vida cabocla sobre o ambiente que o envolve. Este trabalho se construiu a partir da análise de um conjunto de histórias de vida dos caboclos rionegrinos, coletadas em uma experiência etnográfica, concatenadas a outros tipos de fontes, documentais e bibliográficas.
