RESUMEN

Presentamos el caso de una paciente con el diagnóstico de hemangioendotelioma epiteliode del mediastino anterosuperior asociado a un síndrome de la vena cava superior y a un síndrome de Kasabach-Merritt. Resaltamos la baja frecuencia de esta entidad, siendo la primera vez que se reporta en nuestro país y posiblemente en la literatura médica, puesto que no fue hallado en el rastreo bibliográfico realizado. Se concluye por lo tanto que esta asociación resulta excepcional. Enfatizando que los estudios imagenológicos no proporcionan imágenes sugestivas de los tumores vasculares, mientras que los histológicos, ya sea con los medios habituales o especiales, ofrecen el tipo de tumor. Nuestra paciente falleció debido a complicaciones de esta entidad

ABSTRACT

Introducción: This paper reports on a patient with epithelioid hemangioendotelioma of the hind upper mediastinum associated to syndrome of the upper vena cava and to Kasabach- Merritt syndrome. The low frequency rate of such an ailment is remarked. In a fact, this is the first time it has ever been reported in our country and -upon review of the literature- presumably in the world. It is concluded therefore that such an association is rather exceptional. Imaging studies do not furnish images suggestive of vascular tumors, whereas histologic testing, either through usual means or through special ones, do furnish data as to the type of tumor. Our patient died due to complications arising from this entity
