Efectividad de la manipulación cervical en pacientes con cefalea de tipo tensional: revisión sistemática / Effectiveness of cervical manipulation in patients with tension-type headache: a systematic review

RESUMEN

Objetivo: Determinar la efectividad de la manipulación cervical en el tratamiento de la cefalea de tipo tensional. Estrategia de búsqueda Se realizó una revisión sistemática en las bases de datos de PEDro, Central (Cochrane), MEDLINE, CINAHL y EMBASE. Fueron incluidos ensayos controlados aleatorios, revisiones sistemáticas y metaanálisis con pacientes diagnosticados de cefalea de tipo tensional. Se seleccionaron artículos publicados entre el 1 de enero de 1990 hasta el 1 de enero de 2012 en lengua española e inglesa. Se revisaron 4.422 artículos. Finalmente, se seleccionaron 11 estudios. Selección de estudios Se realizó de manera independiente, no cegada por 2 revisores, y se llevó a cabo una clasificación de los estudios mediante la escala PEDro. Conclusiones: Existe evidencia limitada para el uso de la manipulación espinal sola o combinada con otras terapias diferentes al masaje para el tratamiento de la cefalea de tipo tensional. La evidencia actual es prometedora pero no concluyente. Se requiere mayor investigación (AU)

ABSTRACT

Objective: This systematic review has aimed to determine the effectiveness of cervical manipulations for the treatment of tension-type headache. Search strategy A systematic review of five computerized bibliographic databases was performed PEDro, Central (Cochrane), MEDLINE, CINAHL and EMBASE. Randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews and meta-analysis of adult patients with tension-type headache were included. Articles published from January 1, 1990 to January 1, 2012 in Spanish and English were selected. A total of 4422 articles were reviewed, 11 studies finally being selected. Study screening Studies were independently selected, unblinded, by two reviewers. The PEDro scale was used to classify the studies. Conclusions: There is limited evidence regarding the use of spinal manipulation alone or combined with therapies other than physiotherapy for the treatment of tension-type headache. The current evidence is encouraging, but not conclusive. More research is needed (AU)
