ABSTRACT
Relationships -beneficial for the most part- which the practice of physical exercise establishes with a person’s overall health are analysed in this work. Such benefits will take place as long as physical exercise becomes a regular habit. Some of these benefits are described and we have evaluated in which way -often in an indirect one- physical exercise has an effect on the psychological functioning of individuals. The motivation which leads people to take up, keep or quit exercising are also reviewed. Likewise, some of the psychological disorders applied to physical exercise as a therapeutic method or activity and how their effects are produced have also been reviewed. LastIy, a warning is stated about the potential damage derived from an inappropriate or abusive practice of physical exercise on one’s health (AU)
