La enfermedad de Dupuytren en Galicia / Dupuytren’s Disease in Galicia (Spain)

RESUMEN

La fibromatosis nodular o enfermedad de Dupuytren es una enfermedad del tejido conectivo, caracterizada por la proliferación limitada de fibro y miofibroblastos con abundante proliferación de la matriz fibrilar extracelular asociada a síntesis de factores de crecimiento en la cara palmar de la mano lo que produce acortamiento de la fascia palmar y deformidad progresiva de los dedos y la palma. Más infrecuentemente se encuentran lesiones histológicas similares en los cuerpos cavernosos del pene (enfermedad de Peyronie) o en la aponeurosis plantar (enfermedad de Ledderhose). En nuestro país son escasos los estudios epidemiológicos sobre esta enfermedad, a pesar de ser una afección frecuente cuya etiología, factores de riesgo y demografía continúan sin ser aclaradas. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo el estudio y análisis de la prevalencia de esta enfermedad en la Comunidad Autónoma de Galicia. (España) (AU)

ABSTRACT

The nodular fibromatous or Dupuytren’s Disease of the connective tissue is characterized by the limited proliferation of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts with abundant proliferation of extracellular fibrilar matrix. This is associated with the synthesis of growth factors in the palm of the hand, which produce a shortening and deformity of both the fingers and the palm. More rarely, similar histological lesions can be found in the corpora cavernous of the penis ( Peyronie’s disease) or in the plantar aponeurosis (Ledderhose’s disease). In Spain there are a very limited number of epidemiological findings regarding this disease, despite it is an unusual disease whose etiology, risk factors and demography continue to be unclear.
