ABSTRACT
The relation between consumption of tobacco and the associated risk for Alzheimer disease isn’t established yet. The nicotine could increase the colinergic transmission operatin over the possitive regulation of the cerebrals nicotine receptors (nAChRS). Two types of evidence seems to support this action 1. several estudies have concluded that the administration of nicotine to people with AD give better punctuation in neuropsycological cognitive tests; 2. epidemiological studies that use the case-control strategic, apparently fives the fact that the consume of tobacco is associated to a decrease of the relative risk for having Alzheimer Disease. However, these one are based in prevalent patients, for what devistions of the results can exist due to a high mortality of elderly smokers with dementia. When incident cases were analyzed, a relative increased risk has been observed. In this work the fisiology of nicotine receptors in Alzheimer disease is anlaysed (AU)
