RESUMEN

En este trabajo se presenta el factor de impacto del Journal Citation Reports de la Web of Science, uno de los indicadores bibliométricos más utilizados en la evaluación de la actividad científica, y también uno de los más polémicos. Se indica el método de cálculo, sus críticas y otros indicadores relacionados con él, como el factor de impacto de 5 años y el índice de inmediatez. Se describen también otros indicadores alternativos, como el Eigenfactor, el Scimago Journal and Country Rank, que ofrece el grupo Scimago a partir de los datos de la base de datos Scopus, y el Source Normalized Impact per Paper, que propone el Centre for Science and Technology Studies de la universidad de Leiden, en los Países Bajos (AU)

ABSTRACT

This paper presents the journal impact factor published by the Journal Citation Reports of the Web of Science, one of the most used bibliometric indicators in the evaluation of scientific activity and also one of the most controversial. We explain the method of calculation, its criticisms and other related indicators, such as the 5-year impact factor and the immediacy index. Other alternative indicators are also described, such as the Eigenfactor, the Scimago Journal and Country Rank, offered by the Scimago group based on data from the Scopus database, and the Source Normalized Impact per Paper, proposed by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies from the University of Leiden, in the Netherlands (AU)
