Perfiles de las parejas en función de la participación en el proceso de nacimiento y esfera reproductiva / Couple profiles based on participation in the process of birth and reproductive sphere

RESUMEN

OBJETIVO: Explorar el grado de incorporación del hombre en el proceso de nacimiento y crianza infantil. MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Metodología cualitativa basada en la perspectiva de fenomenología. Se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a 13 hombres y a 15 mujeres que accedieron por primera vez a la maternidad/paternidad. RESULTADOS: Se establecieron tres perfiles de pareja en función de la participación masculina durante el proceso de nacimiento, la visión que ambos tienen de la maternidad y paternidad y el reparto entre la pareja de las tareas productivas y reproductivas. Las tres categorías se presentaron como un continuum evolutivo, desde la ausencia masculina en la esfera reproductiva hasta la corresponsabilidad entre ambos miembros de la pareja, y son pareja igualitaria, pareja transicional y pareja desigualitaria. DISCUSIÓN: El modo de ejercer la maternidad ha cambiado, pero lo que ha sufrido un drástico cambio a lo largo de las últimas décadas es la forma de entender y practicar la paternidad, aunque la transformación social sigue siendo lenta. CONCLUSIONES: El grado de implicación y participación tanto de la mujer como del hombre determina el perfil de la pareja. La matrona tiene la capacidad y la oportunidad de incluir a la figura masculina a lo largo del proceso de nacimiento. Se precisa realizar más estudios que permitan conocer las necesidades reales de los futuros padres

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the degree of incorporation of man in the process of birth and child rearing. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Qualitative methodology based on the phenomenology perspective. In-depth interviews were conducted with 13 men and 15 women who agreed to maternity/paternity for the first time. RESULTS: Three couples profiles were established based on the male participation during the birth process, the vision that both have of maternity and paternity and the distribution of the couple between the productive and reproductive tasks. The three categories were presented as an evolutionary continuum from the male absence in the reproductive sphere to the co-responsibility between both members of the couple and are equal couple, transitional couple and unequal couple. DISCUSSION: The way of exercising motherhood has changed, but what has undergone a drastic change over the last decades has been the way of understanding and practicing fatherhood, although social transformation is still slow. CONCLUSIONS: The degree of involvement and participation of both women and men determines the profile of the couple. The midwife has the opportunity and ability to include the male figure throughout the birth process. More studies are needed where the real needs of future parents are known
