La caries dental es una enfermedad infecciosa caracterizada por la destrucción de los tejidos duros dentarios. Es la enfermedad infantil crónica más común, pero es prevenible y curable. La salud bucodental se define como la ausencia de dolor orofacial, llagas bucales, infecciones, caries y enfermedades periodontales. Disponer de una buena salud bucodental es fundamental para gozar de una buena salud y buena calidad de vida.
