ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
Establish the most relevant aspects in the diagnosis and treatment in adult patients with thyroglossal duct cysts.METHODS:
A narrative review was performed, based on a selective literature search in EMBASE, MEDLINE, Scopus, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Google Scholar, we have examined emerging evidence on diagnosis and treatment in adult patients with thyroglossal duct cysts.CONCLUSION:
Thyroglossal duct cysts are the most frequent neck anomaly, however, a low percentage occurs in young adults, clinical correlation and imaging studies are important to confirm its diagnosis. In addition, surgical resec-tion has a high cure rate, however it is known that there are non-surgical alternatives that can help treat these patientsRESUMEN
