RESUMEN

Se analiza la evolución de la población española y mundial, el progresivo envejecimiento de las sociedades occidentales y el aumento de las necesidades sociosanitarias que plantean los mayores de 65 años. Todo ello para diseñar el marco en el que deberemos movernos como profesionales sanitarios dedicados a prestar atención a colectivos geriátricos en aumento y con necesidades específicas. (AU)
