Estudio de seroprevalencia de la Hepatitis A y de la Hepatitis B en una población de aspirantes al ingreso en las Fuerzas Armadas / Seroprevalence of Hepatitis A and B in a population of military recruits

RESUMEN

Introducción: La hepatitis A en España presenta una endemicidad moderada-baja, siendo mayor la seroprevalencia en la edad adulta, por tro lado la hepatitis B en nuestro país presenta un patrón de endemicidad medio-bajo, se ha comprobado que es adquirida mayoritariamente en adolescentes y primeros años de la edad adulta a través de relaciones sexuales. El principal objetivo de nuestro trabajo es realizar un estudio seroepidemiológico para conocer el nivel de inmunidad protectora frente a la hepatitis A y hepatitis B en una población joven. Material y Métodos: Se estudiaron 226 sujetos, la primera fase del estudio consistió en realizar una encuesta epidemiológica in situ a todos los sujetos, en la segunda fase se obtuvo de cada sujeto una muestra de 10 ml de sangre para determinar los anticuerpos frente a la hepatitis A y hepatitis B. Resultados: La protección frente a la hepatitis A fue del 10,4% y frente a la hepatitis B del 78,3%, pero no hubo una relación estadística entre los sujetos que estaban protegidos y los que contestaron que habían sido vacunados. A su vez el porcentaje de sujetos que no sabían o no contestaron las preguntas de la encuesta fue muy alto. Conclusiones: La principal conclusión del estudio es que el porcentaje de sujetos protegidos frente a la hepatitis A y frente a la hepatitis B ha sido bajo, sobre todo para la hepatitis A. En cuanto a la utilidad de la encuesta, en nuestra muestra de adultos jóvenes no podemos considerarla herramienta eficaz para predecir el estado inmunitario de los sujetos (AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Hepatitis A in Spain presents a moderate or low endemicity. Seroprevalence is higher in adults. On the other hand hepatitis B in our country presents a medium to low pattern of endemicity and it has been proved that is usually acquired through sexual transmission in adolescence and early adulthood. The main objective of our work is to carry out a seroepidemiological study to determine the level of protective immunity against hepatitis A and B in a young population. Material and Methods: In the first phase a total of 226 subjects completed in situ an epidemiological survey. In the second phase a blood sample of 10 cc was obtained from each subject in order to determine the presence of antibodies against hepatitis A and B. Results: Protection against hepatitis A was 10.4% and against hepatitis B 78.3%, but there was no statistical relationship between the subjects who were protected and those who answered that they had been vaccinated. The percentage of subjects who did not know or did not answer the questions of the survey was very high. Conclusions: The main conclusion of the study is that the percentage of protected subjects against hepatitis A and B is low, mainly for hepatitis A. As far as the usefulness of the survey is concerned, in our sample of young adults we cannot consider it a useful tool to predict the immune status of the subjects (AU)
