RESUMEN
La investigación cualitativa de carácter antropológico ha sido concebida producto de la necesidad emergente en la consulta y atención clínica de personas bolivianas con enfermedad de Chagas, desarrollada por el equipo de la Unitat de Medicina Tropical i Salut Internacional Drassanes. La complejidad evidente en la cotidianidad de las personas consultantes provenientes de Bolivia, han hecho necesario un acercamiento de carácter cualitativo. Para ello se realizó entre Septiembre del 2006 y Febrero 2007, un trabajo etnográfico que incluyó la observación participante, entrevistas semiestructurada, entrevistas en profundidad a las personas consultantes provenientes de Bolivia principalmente, el estudio incluyó el contexto social y familiar de éstas personas, como también la percepción que el equipo de salud tiene respecto de la enfermedad. Entender que la enfermedad de Chagas se asocia a la muerte, permite comprender las resistencias, angustias, postergaciones que las mujeres experimentan en relación a la enfermedad de Chagas especialmente cuando éstas tienen hijos o cuando desean tenerlos. Finalmente para acercarnos a la Trasmisión vertical de la enfermedad de Chagas, se hace indispensable no sólo referirnos a las mujeres, sino entender la significación que hombres y mujeres le atribuyen a la enfermedad en los distintos contextos, especialmente en el contexto migratorio (AU)
ABSTRACT
The qualitative research, as an anthropological approach emerge as a need experienced for the Unitat de Medicina Tropical i Salut Internacional Drassanes, at the clinical work especially with Bolivian people that have Chagas’s disease. The evidence of the complexity that Bolivian lived in an immigrant context had made necessary to develop the anthropological approach. Between September of 2006 and February of 2007, the ethnographic work had done focus to know the significance of Chagas disease in Bolivian people, that included participant observing, interviews deep and structured interviews. The deep connection with Bolivian people help to have a deepest research into the social and familiar context. Also was necessary to know the meaning and representations that the medical team have, the ethnography included it. For Bolivian people Chagas disease is related with death, and that could not be avoid, Why to make a treatment?, the meaning of Chagas disease in a immigration context required to search all the aspect that are related, that include to know the perception that the medical team have. To understand the complex meaning of Chagas disease is necessary to consider the immigrant experiences and significances, to understand the non endemic context and the discourses related with the disease into the social and cultural groups, and into the medical structure all these aspects are connected with the significance of vertical transmission of Chagas disease (AU)
