As síndromes epilépticas constituem um conjunto de distúrbios caracterizados por descargas neuronas excessivas, paroxísticas, resultando em perda de funçäo. A etiologia é diversa e requer acurado senso clínico para obtençäo dos melhores resultados diagnósticos, prognósticos e terapêuticos. Os autores revisam a literatura e propöem uma rotina para o manuseio prático desses casos
