RESUMEN
Se estudiaron durante 5 años, 1239 recièn nacidos en un Centro Mèdico Privado de La Paz, se demostrò una frecuencia porcentual de 9,5 porciento de bajo peso de nacimiento. La relaciòn entre pretèmino y RCI fue similar (4 porciento vs 5,5 porciento). Se aconseja seguir investigando este problema en diferentes niveles de atenciòn medica, para tener datos globales del pais y poder dar normas generales para disminuir estas cifras. Mejorando el peso de nacimiento disminuiremos las altas tasas de morbi-mortalidad asociadas al bajo peso de nacimiento
