Faz uma revisäo dos modelos de planejamento em saúde na América Latina e de suas tendências mais recentes. Discute as transformaçöes sociais e políticas que propöem a redefiniçäo do modelo de Estado e a reformulaçäo de políticas sociais. Compara as reformas da saúde nos principais países europeus com as propostas para o setor da saúde e do planejamento. Planejar agora exige conhecimento da articulaçäo da saúde com a realidade social e da nova dinâmica do setor.
