RESUMO
Apresenta e comenta os resultados de uma pesquisa em relatos feitos através de cartas de pessoas desempregadas na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo que, no ano de 2000, participaram das frentes de trabalho do governo do estado de São Paulo. Identifica, nas cartas , elementos de negação da saúde, presentes nas condições de desemprego e de esgarçamento social, e elementos protetores e fomentadores da saúde, gerados por um projeto de promoção da saúde.
