O enfoque dos determinantes sociais de saúde sob o ponto de vista da teoria social / The social determinants of health in the view of the social theory

RESUMO

Este artigo apresenta reflexões teóricas relacionadas à contribuição das ciências humanas e sociais para o campo da saúde. Partindo dos artigos de Eugênio Villar e de Mirta Roses Periago e colaboradores, busca salientar a relação entre a preocupação com justiça social que inspira o enfoque dos Determinantes Sociais de Saúde com o contexto social contemporâneo e paradigmas que vão ao encontro à idéia de determinação social. Ao mesmo tempo, focalizam questões éticas e reforçam a importância da dimensão social do processo saúde-doença, o que implica em uma re-politização do campo da saúde. Busca, também, discutir a concepção de participação política no campo da saúde e suas limitações para o enfrentamento de desafios colocados pela fragmentação da sociedade e os novos níveis de pobreza e "exclusão social".

ABSTRACT

This article presents theoretical reflections related to the contribution of the social and human sciences to the public health field. Taking the articles of Eugenio Villar and Mirta Rose Periago et al, as subject of analysis, the authors try to emphasize the relationship of social justice that inspires the approach of the Social Determinants of Health with the contemporaneous social context and with the paradigms related to the social determination. At the same time, the authors focus ethical questions and reinforce the importance of the social dimension of the health - disease process, which implies in the re-politization of the Health Field. The authors also discuss the concept of political participation and its limits to deal with the challenges of social fragmentation and the high level of poverty and social exclusion.
