RESUMEN

La investigación con células troncales es el descubrimiento médico más prometedor para la comprensión y manejo de patologías que en la actualidad son incurables. Pero, además, anuncia el nacimiento de la medicina regenerativa. En este artículo se analiza el estado del arte de las investigaciones con las células troncales embrionarias humanas y con las células troncales adultas humanas, desde la perspectiva de sus revolucionarias implicaciones biológicas (cuestionamiento del dogma de la embriología clásica, del dogma de la cardiología moderna y del dogma de la neurología moderna), epistemológicas (insuficiencia explicativa del modelo mecanicista de la biología molecular) y sus dilemas bioéticos (estatuto moral del embrión, creación de quimeras humanas-no humanas y protocolos clínicos de investigación).

ABSTRACT

Research with stem cells is the most promising medical discovery for understanding and managementof pathologies incurable so far. But besides that, it also announces the birth of regenerative medicine. This article analyses the state of the art with human embryonic and adult stem cells research,from the perspective of its revolutionary biological implications (questioning the classical embryology dogma of modern cardiology as well as the modern neurology dogma, epistemology (insuffi cient explanation of the mechanistic model of molecular biology) and its bioethical dilemma (moral statuteof the embryo, creation of human - non - human and clinical research protocols).
