ABSTRACT
Conflicts of interest are increasingly a problem in medical practice. It is a universal problem, one that is not only limited to research and medical publications, but also in the practice of clinical medicine and public health. A number of studies have demonstrated that the reliability of scientific information, the quality of physician-patient relationship and the veracity of medical information can be biased or otherwise affected by conflicts of interest. The Chilean Association of Scientific Medical Societies (Asocimed) recently published a list of ethical recommendations to control possible conflicts of interest in medicine. This editorial presents and comments on these recommendations.
