RESUMO
Conhecer os hábitos de saúde da população de um Município do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, antes, durante e após a pandemia de Influenza A (H1N1) foi o objetivo desta pesquisa exploratório-descritiva quantitativa, realizada em Cachoeira do Sul, entre 5 de janeiro de 2010 e 26 de fevereiro de 2010; população 11.100 inscritos no guia telefônico; amostra 519 entrevistados (4,7 por cento); dados coletados por entrevista telefônica. Perfil faixa etária 18-90 anos; 55,3 por cento mulheres; 22,7 por cento tinham ensino superior e 39,9 por cento ensino médio. Frequências em que foram mantidas as atitudes de saúde após a pandemia 74 por cento higienizavam frequentemente as mãos com água/sabão e 39,2 por cento com álcool gel; 94,6 por cento cobriam a face ao espirrar/tossir; 45,5 por cento lavavam as mãos após tossir/espirrar; 60,9 por cento evitavam tocar mucosas de olhos, nariz e boca; 21 por cento evitavam aglomerações; 85,7 por cento procuraram manter ambientes ventilados. Durante a pandemia os entrevistados incorporaram bons hábitos em todas as medidas analisadas, que foram mantidas em graus variáveis mesmo depois de transcorridos sete meses do evento.
ABSTRACT
This quantitative exploratory-descriptive study conducted from January 5 to February 26, 2010, focused on the population's health habits in Cachoeira do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, before, during, and after the influenza A (H1N1) pandemic. The total population included 11,100 individuals listed in the telephone book, of which 519 (4.7 percent) were interviewed by telephone. Characteristics were age range 18-90 years; 55.3 percent women; 22.7 percent with university diplomas; and 39.9 percent with secondary school diplomas. The following proportions of health habits were reported after the pandemic 74 percent washed their hands frequently with soap and water and 39.2 percent cleaned their hands with alcohol gel; 94.6 percent covered their faces when they sneezed or coughed; 45.5 percent washed their hands after coughing/sneezing; 60.9 percent avoided touching the mucosa of their eyes, nose, and mouth; 21 percent avoided crowds; 85.7 percent attempted to keep rooms well ventilated. During the pandemic, the interviewees incorporated good habits in all the above measures, which were maintained to variable degrees even after the seven-month pandemic ended.
