RESUMO
O presente trabalho investiga variáveis do ambiente familiar, como supervisão, envolvimento e suporte dos pais em crianças com e sem sintomas de depressão. Participaram do estudo 6 mães de alunos de 3ª e 4ª séries do ensino fundamental 3 eram mães de crianças com sintomatologia depressiva, e as outras 3, de crianças sem sintomas. Os dados foram coletados por meio da versão brasileira do Inventário de Depressão Infantil – CDI e do Inventário de Recursos do ambiente familiar - RAF. Os resultados apontaram diferenças entre os dois grupos no que concerne à “Supervisão dos Pais” em relação às atividades da criança fora da escola, às tarefas escolares e às atividades com horário definido. O ambiente familiar das crianças com sintomatologia depressiva caracterizou-se por mais dificuldades relacionadas à supervisão parental. Como as relações familiares saudáveis e seguras contribuem para o ajustamento emocional da criança, acredita-se na necessidade de se desenvolverem programas preventivos direcionados especialmente aos pais.
ABSTRACT
This paper investigates family environment variables such as parental supervision, involvement and support of children with and without depressive symptoms. The sample was composed of six mothers of 3rd and 4th grade basic education students. Of the six mothers, three were of children with depressive symptoms and three were of children without symptoms. Data were collected by means of Brazilian version of the Child Depression Inventory (CDI) and of the Family Environment Resources Inventory (RAF). Results evinced differences between the two groups in parental supervision mainly those related to children’s outside school activities, school tasks as well as scheduled activities. Parental supervision problems were far more present in the families of children with depressive symptoms. Insofar as healthy and safe family relationships contribute to the emotional adjustment of the children, it is recommended that preventive programs targeted at parents be designed.
