Um breve ensaio sobre a aceitação da beleza na efemeridade dos corpos / A brief essay on the acceptance of beauty in the ephemeralness of the bodies

RESUMO

O trabalho pretende identificar a relação entre a beleza corporal e a longevidade através dos paradigmas que ligam o culto do corpo e a estética da beleza nas relações sociais. Nessa perspectiva, a opinião dos idosos, ou seja, aqueles acima de 60 anos de idade, será essencial para uma compreensão do significado da beleza atribuído nesse momento de suas vidas.

ABSTRACT

This work considers the relationship between and aging, shedding light on this subjective value and enumerating the paradigms that link the cult of the body and the esthetics in social relations. It engages the concept of beauty by analyzing techniques used to maintain, and several presentations of, beauty during people’s lives. From this perspective, the opinions of those considered elderly in Brazil, i.e., those above 60 years of age, are essential to an understanding of the meaning of “beauty” over our life spans.
