ABSTRACT
Secondary pancitopeny is an acute illness in children commonly produced by bone marrow suppression, rarely is also a manifestation of inappropriate macrophage activation with haemophagocitosis. We report an unfrecuent case of haemophagocitic syndrome that includes the cardinal symptoms of presistent fever, hepatosplenomegaly, cytopenia and hemophagocytosis with normal cellularity in bone marrow biopsy. During the etiologic sutdy we obtained a positive culture for mycobacterium tuberculosis. Treatment response was favourable with gradual normalization of the symptoms
