ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study was to develop norms of self-esteem for children, adolescents, and adults, and to update thepsychometric properties of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale adapted by Hutz (2000). Participants were 1,151 elementaryschool, high school, and university students in southern Brazil. Participants answered the questionnaires in groups. Amain component analysis (varimax rotation) extracted one factor. This result corroborated the findings by Hutz (2000), aswell as the original findings of Rosenberg. Cronbachs alpha was satisfactory (.90). The results also showed a negativecorrelation between self-esteem and age (r=-.47), which is probably explained by the transition period through which theuniversity students must go through.
