RESUMEN
Resumen Se presenta una síntesis de los pasos recorridos en la creación de «ARCOS¼, un programa de salud escolar cuya meta es la preparación de los(as) jóvenes escolares que cursan los ciclos educativos finales de formación media, para incorporarse al mundo educacional y/o laboral del adulto joven al egresar del colegio. El programa se ha estructurado tomando como unidad operativa el taller, que es una secuencia de seis a ocho sesiones, en las que se incluyen actividades de intervención motivacional breve dirigidas al cumplimiento de objetivos de prevención universal, prevención selectiva, o prevención indicada. Los talleres se integran en módulos organizados para los grados octavos a décimo, que conforman los ciclos educativos cuarto y quinto. En la fase actual se busca la estructuración de los aspectos operativos y evaluativos de ARCOS, con propósitos de validación ecológica, a fin de proseguir a nuevas fases de evaluación de la eficacia y de la eficiencia del programa. Se enfatiza la fundamentación del programa en teorías motivacionales de tipo cognitivo, ubicadas dentro de la corriente de teorías de expectativa-valor, especialmente en la teoría de autodeterminación.
ABSTRACT
Abstract A synthesis of the steps involved in the development of «ARCOS¼ is presented. ARCOS is a program of school health with the goal of preparing young middle- and high-school students to become a part of the educational and/or job markets after graduating from school. The program has been structured by using workshops as an operational unit, consisting of six to eight sessions involving activities of brief motivational intervention directed to the fulfilling of objectives of universal prevention, selective prevention, or indicated prevention. The workshops are integrated in modules which have been organized for Grades 8 to 10. In its current phase, the aim is the articulation of the operational and evaluation aspects of ARCOS, for the purpose of ecological validation, so that the program can be directed to new phases of evaluation of the efficacy and efficiency of the program. The grounding of the program in cognitively-oriented motivational theories -belonging to the broader category of expectancy-value theories- and particularly in the self-determination theory (SDT), is emphasized.
