ABSTRACT
Arterial hypertension is one of the major cardiovascular risk factors, and the association of diabetes is frequent and can impair the prognosis of the patients. An increased oxidative stress is one of the mechanisms involved in vascular changes induced by hypertension that can be worsening by diabetes, especially if not under control. Thus, an adequate control of glycaemia could decrease oxidative stress related to hypertension, and consequently improve the cardiovascular prognosis of both diseases.
