ABSTRACT
This is a descriptive-analytical quantitative and qualitative study about user embracement in four Family Health Strategy teams of a basic health unit in the Distrito Federal. Observations were taken in the unit for twenty hours, with a structured questionnaire, interviews with one hundred users, analyzed using SPSS 15.0, and a Focus Group with sixteen professionals. The data were collected, analyzed, and grouped into analytical categories, which found a valued ambience, yet also, a lack of knowledge about the Family Health Strategy, unassisted teams, and the nonfunctioning of the reference and counter reference. It is believed that user embracement constitutes a challenge in the construction of comprehensive care, and contributes to the management and evaluation of health services.
