La Casa Natal de Carlos J. Finlay. Un monumento del siglo XVIII / Carlos Juan Finlay´s home: a XVII century monument

RESUMEN

En el siglo XVIII se realizan en la ciudad de Camagüey grandes obras arquitectónicas, sobresaliendo entre ellas las de tipo religioso y doméstico; y de estas últimas la casa marcada con el número 4, actual 5 de la calle Cristo es una de sus muestras relevantes. En ella vio la luz una de las figuras más sobresaliente de la medicina mundial, el doctor Carlos J. Finlay Barrés. El trabajo trata de los valores históricos y arquitectónicos del inmueble. El primero representado por el nacimiento del eminente científico; y el segundo por ser fiel exponente de las codificaciones en la vivienda colonial de la arquitectura camagüeyana en dicha etapa.

ABSTRACT

During the XVIII century big architectural Works carried out, standing out tose of religious and domestic types, and, among the last ones, the house marked with number 4, on Cristo Street is an outstanding sample. There, one the most relevant figures of the world medicine Doctor Carlos J. Finlay Barrés, was born. This work is about the historical and architectural values of this property. The first one represented by the birth of the eminent scientist, and the second, for being a faithful exponent of the codes in the colonial housing of Camague y ´ s architecture in this stage.
