Miedo al tratamiento estomatológico en pacientes de la clínica estomatológica docente provincial / Fear to treatment in patients of the teaching dentistry clinic

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio transversal descriptivo en la Clínica Estomatológica Docente Provincial “Ismael Clark y Mascaró”, del municipio y provincia de Camagüey, desde Noviembre del 2005 hasta mayo del 2006 con los objetivos de determinar la prevalencia del miedo al tratamiento estomatológico según edad y sexo, identificar su etiología y precisar las características clínicas de los pacientes en esta fase. El universo se constituyó por todos pacientes que asistieron al centro asistencial. La muestra estuvo integrada por 210 personas seleccionadas de forma aleatoria dentro del universo. Se obtuvo que predominó el sexo masculino y el grupo de edades de 41-50 años, el ruido del airotor es la causa principal del miedo al estomatólogo seguida de la percepción individual del dolor; las manifestaciones clínicas se manifestaron como sudores y taquicardia, le siguieron los agarrotamientos, los temblores e hipersensibilidad al dolor.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive study in the Clínica Estomatológica Docente Provincial “Ismael Clark y Mascaró, of the municipality and county of Camagüey, from November 2005 until May 2006 with the objectives of determining the prevalence of fear to dentistry treatment according to age and sex, to identify their ethnology and to specify the clinical characteristics of the patients in this phase. All patients that attended the assistance centre constituted the universe. 210 selected people integrated the sample in a random way inside the universe. It was obtained that it prevailed the male sex and the group of 41-50 year-old ages, the noise of the airotor it is the main cause from the fear to the estomatólogo followed by the individual perception of the pain; the clinical manifestations showed as perspirations and taquicardia, the stiffening, the tremors and hypersensitivity to the pain followed.
