ABSTRACT
In presence of infectious diseases, the early treatment can save life, so it is necessary to establish a preliminary causal diagnosis before the definitive diagnosis. The first should be based on the history , the physical examination, the epidemiology of the disease in the community and the microbiological studies, then it will be possible to establish the antimicrobial treatment against the possible causal agents and to reassess as a more definite diagnostic information is available in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality rate due to infectious diseases in children hospitals, so a longitudinal and a participation type study was carried out aimed at controlling the infectious diseases in children at "Pepe Portilla" Children Hospital, proposing a methodology for working in the Infectious Disease Services resulting an standardization in the diagnosis and treatment of these infections.
